 20th-century Sites in Detroit: The role of archaeology in post-industrial 
 communities.” \n4:00 - 5:00 PM East Reading Room of the Van Pelt and Opi
 e Library\n\nKrysta Ryzewski is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at 
 Wayne State University. She is director of Digging Detroit project\, an in
 vestigation of industrial and post-industrial urban communities in the Mot
 or City. Dr. Ryzewski is a leading researcher in both historical and conte
 mporary archaeology as well as in the digital humanities\, all of which sh
 ow her commitment to community-engaged field work that connects archaeolog
 ical practice with current social debates. Her work has been funded by man
 y agencies and in 2016 was featured in Science Magazine’s XX Files serie
 s. \n\nA social reception will follow Dr. Ryzewski’s talk in the AOB Ann
 ex Archaeology Laboratories.
