The Applied Chemical and Morphological Laboratory (ACMAL) is sponsoring an free-of-charge internal hands-on workshop on electron microscopy presenting by Dr. Freitas on November 15th.
Dr. Freitas is a Research Scientist at MSE department. He manages the Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope FEI 200kV Titan Themis, and the Focused Ion Beam instrument in the Electron Optics Facility of the ACMAL core facility at Michigan Tech. He teaches the TEM lab sessions (MSE5550) and is teaching the SEM course (MSE4530). Dr. Freitas has 15+ years of hands-on experience with the day-to-day operation of SEM and TEM instruments, and has analyzed multiple types of samples in his career.
In this workshop, Dr. Freitas will run hands-on SEM and STEM sessions using the ThermoFisher Apreo2 FESEM, and the FEI Titan Themis STEM, the two high-tech cutting-edge research instruments. He wants to use his expertise in the field for the ACMAL user community to help them analyze their samples, and to discuss how to optimize microscope settings and detectors to get the best possible high quality data.
