Members of the Mi-STAR (Michigan- Science Teaching and Assessment Reform) team will present at the ACSHF forum on Monday, November 14, from 2-3 p.m. in Meese 109.

We will discuss insights from the Mi-STAR (Michigan - Science Teaching and Assessment Reform) project and from your experiences regarding how to engage students in constructing their own understanding of scientific phenomena. We will provide an overview of the Mi-STAR approach to developing and testing student-centered middle school integrated science curriculum and associated professional development. We will then engage in discussion about topics at the intersection of Mi-STAR’s work and your own experiences, which may include: How might approaches from K-12 education be applicable at the university level? What are important steps toward preparing educators to facilitate student-centered classrooms?  What characteristics of a curriculum most help to engage students as motivated learners? Free popcorn provided. All are welcome!
