DESCRIPTION:ME-EM Graduate Seminar Speaker Series\n\nproudly presents\n\nKe
 vin Howard\, PhD\n\nAerodynamics Technical Expert\nFord Motor Company\n\nA
bstract\n\nThis presentation will cover the generic industrial design proc
ess with particular focus on implementation of aerodynamics into automotiv
e development. Topics will include investigation of various tools availabl
e and how and when to use them during the design timeline. Additionally\,
the topic of tool correlation will be discussed\, as there are many engine
ering tool options that can be used during development and the tool capabi
lities and assumptions need to be recognized and understood. Finally\, a f
ew slides will be presented on the topic of industry hiring not-so-secret
secrets to provide students with a perspective on what industry hiring man
agers look for on resumes and applications.\n\nBio\n\nKevin Howard current
ly works as the aerodynamics technical expert and CFD supervisor for aero
and aero-acoustics at Ford Motor Company where he leads the development of
computational and experimental tools to push the boundaries of aerodynami
cs and help to create the most aerodynamically efficient vehicle designs p
ossible. Kevin holds an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering from
Iowa State University\, an automotive engineering master’s degree from
Clemson University\, and a PhD in fluid mechanics from the University of M
innesota. He has helped design aerodynamic components on vehicles ranging
from tractor trailers to NASCAR Cup cars. Kevin grew up on a family farm i
n South Dakota and has a passion for all things mechanical - if flow moves
through\, into or around it\, and you can ride / drive / fly it\, chances
are\, it's an interest of his.\n\nInvited by: Radheshyam Tewari
