After School: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
After School Science and Engineering Classes 2018
Grades 6-8
March 19 – May 4, 2018
(No class K-12 Spring Break week March 26-30)
6 sessions ~ 4:00-5:30 pm
Hands-on explorations taught by Michigan Tech science and engineering students and staff at Michigan Tech's Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC).
Grades 6-8 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) MONDAYS Meet in B003 GLRC
Students collect data using technology, then use computers to solve real world problems and make maps to visually represent their data. Find our how GIS is used and create a webmap for a webpage! This fast growing technology is used in many career fields. Returning students will be challenged with new problems to solve and new applications of their skills.
Cost: Grades 1-5 classes $75/student; Grades 6-8 classes $90/student (GIS & Minerals)

Houghton Elementary School bus will drop off students at the GLRC or the Seaman Mineral Museum by 3:45 pm. Transportation from Houghton Elementary will be provided by Lamers at no additional cost!
