DESCRIPTION:ROZSA PRESENTING SERIES EVENT\n\nIn celebration of "American 25
0"\, The Akropolis Reed Quintet\, join forces with composer and jazz piani
st Pascal Le Boeuf\, and jazz drummer Christian Euman to perform their rec
ent Grammy-winning album\, Are We Dreaming the Same Dream?\, exploring the
unity within the American experience. The music is an examination of what
Ralph Ellison calls “the unity of American experience” and draws upon
a selection of our collective musical “ancestors” — Geri Allen\, Da
ve Brubeck\, Charles Mingus\, and Leonard Bernstein — each of whom have
historically represented a variety of perspectives concerning the unity of
American experience. Following this chain of artistic ancestry leads to D
 uke Ellington\, Mary Lou Williams\, Aaron Copland\, and beyond. \n\nThis p
erformance is a musical exploration of American identity\, tracing a linea
ge of influential artists to examine how diverse perspectives come togethe
 r into a shared cultural experience.\n\n\n\nThings to know\n\nDATE | Frida
