About Scenic & Entertainment Design
Scenic Design is design for theatre - the development of the physical world of the play in which the performers work. It also can include entertainment, award shows, museum displays and art exhibits, and special projects. As a scenic designer, you might consult with an artist for their art installation; create an escape room for a local business, or collaborate with an architect as she develops a new hotel. The field is broad and filled with many opportunities. At its core, design is about creating an experience. That experience can be immersive, fun, thought-provoking, silly, relaxing, challenging, connective... or many other things. It's up to you, as the designer, to develop your designs so that they reflect the story you and your collaborators want to tell.
About Art on Site
Focused on making works of art "on location" - in forests, community centers, museums, theatre, and as special projects in unique spaces. Students explore different materials, and ask open-ended ideas about how art is made and what it can be.
