Dr. Carl Trettin, recently retired as Team Leader for the US Forest Service Center for Forested Wetlands Research in South Carolina, will provide an overview of mangrove ecosystems and demonstrate the development and application of an objective assessment framework to measure above- and below-ground carbon stocks, focusing on the two largest deltaic river systems in East Africa.
