Middle school girls from Houghton and Keweenaw counties will learn how to program computers in a one day workshop on October 3rd, 2015 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm in Rekhi Hall at Michigan Technological University. Lunch will be provided.
During the six hour workshop, girls will have the option of learning to program in MIT App Inventor (make an app for an Android device) or Processing (make a video game). In the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to work in small groups to code a new application or make changes to existing code from that morning’s instruction.
The workshop will cost $10. There are a limited number of need-based scholarships available thanks to funding from the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT).
