DESCRIPTION:ME-EM Graduate Seminar Speaker Series\n\nproudly presents:\n\nC
hang-Wook Lee\nPACCAR Technical Center\n\nAbstract: Demand for better fuel
efficiency in automotive industry is ever growing. Clear trade‐off betw
een the efficiency and emissions has been posing a significant challenge\,
especially with emission standards being more stringent\, too. Computatio
nal modeling and analysis has become an element in development process\, b
ecause it helps expedite project and save resource. High performance compu
ting environment enables high fidelity models run faster. Computational de
sign optimization over a vast design space is becoming a common practice.
System level model development with component model integration is a key t
o leverage the progress and to further the capability.\n\nBio: Chang‐Woo
k Lee is the Powertrain Simulation Manager at PACCAR Technical Center. He
is responsible for modeling and analysis for engine\, after‐treatment sy
stem\, drivetrain and vehicle fuel economy predictions to support other di
visions. He has more than 20 years of experience in IC engine and truck fi
eld\, covering testing\, design and analysis across academia and industry.
After completing M.S. and B.S. at Sungkyunkwan University in Korea\, he w
orked for Hyundai‐Kia Motor Company for 6 years and half. Then\, he went
to University of Cambridge for his Ph.D. in turbulent combustion modeling
. He was a post‐doc and Assistant Scientist at University of Wisconsin
‐Madison / Engine Research Center before working on combustion modeling
at Cummins for years. He has been with PACCAR for five years and is intere
sted in component and system optimization for better truck efficiency.\n\n
