Mr. Jeffrey Eaton
Exotic Metals
Abstract: Exotic Metals is a Washington based manufacturer of precision sheet metal assemblies for the commercial and military Aerospace industry. Exotic supplies hardware found on every Boeing aircraft model as well as parts for Airbus aircraft and Pratt Whitney Jet Engines. Exotic has grown from a one man business started in a garage 50 years ago to a thriving manufacturing company of 1,200 employees. Today’s business climate contains numerous challenges including pricing pressure and competition from abroad. In addition, precision manufacturing skills such as welders and NC operators are increasingly difficult to find. After a brief introduction to examples of the type of hardware Exotic manufactures and the processes used to make them, we will focus on our vision for continuing success over the next 3 to 5 years. We will discuss the role we see automation playing through the use of tools such as robotics and laser welding. We will also profile several of the roles Engineers serve here at Exotic and the characteristics we are looking for when hiring.
