We look forward to welcoming everyone back this summ er and encourage families to explore the many excellent local lodging opti ons for a fun and memorable stay-and-play experience!\n\n\nMichigan Tech's Group 2 camps are for players looking to gain all of the fundamental skil ls of hockey! Open to boys and girls birth years 2014 - 2016 with at least one year of organized hockey experience. Participants will need their own water bottle and snacks daily\, as well as a small bag to carry them in.\ n\nSkaters are given the opportunity to learn forward and defense position s while goalies are given goaltending instruction\, with plenty of practic e time. Participants learn and practice under personalized direction from Michigan Tech's staff as well as current varsity players\, alumni\, and gu est instructors.\n\nPrograms are built around Daily On-Ice Instruction\, f ocusing on power-skating\, shooting\, passing\, positional playing\, small area games\, competitive battle drills\, angling\, and defensive play. Of f-Ice Programming includes hockey skills\, age-appropriate competitive gam es\, and lecture. Full hockey equipment and athletic apparel/shoes require d.\n\nGroup 2 will be divided into (1) black team and (1) gold team prior to the first day of camp. Both teams stay together for the duration of the week.\n\nLocker rooms will be assigned for equipment storage for the dura tion of camp. Please label all personal belongings.Counselors are assigned to each group and remain with campers throughout the day\, including meal s. Lead and assistant instructors are present for all on and off-ice activ ities.The Outdoor Adventure Program partners with Michigan Tech to introdu ce team-building activities to the participants each day.Special evening a ctivities:Every evening (Monday - Thursday) features special off-site acti vities\, such as Chutes and Ladders (Houghton Waterfront Park)\, a trip to the Mine Shaft for bowling and arcade games\, lawn games at the East Houg hton Waterfront Park\, and a chairlift ride at Mont Ripley for a spectacul ar view of the Keweenaw Waterway. Please make sure you come prepared to be outdoors (athletic clothing/light jacket\, as well as spending money for snacks and games)!
