Abstract: In this talk, the use of auditory user interfaces in the vehicle will be discussed. Given that driving is a visually-demanding task, research on multimodal interfaces has been actively conducted. In-vehicle sounds can be used not only as warnings and alerts, but also for menu navigation, emotion regulation, or eco-driving facilitation. Different types of auditory user interfaces are also discussed, including auditory displays, music, speech, and sonification.
