In this talk, the concept of incoherent broadband cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy (IBBCEAS) will be introduced. This technique is widely being used for monitoring atmospheric trace gases, and aerosol light extinction.

Varma joined the National Institute of Technology Calicut, India, in 2009 and is currently an associate professor of physics. He studied Physics from the University of Hyderabad, India, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from McGill University, Montreal, and earned a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences in 2003 from the Desert Research Institute in Reno, Nevada. He is currently visiting the Department of Physics at Michigan Tech in collaboration with the Environmental Optics Laboratory.
