 Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multi-program\, federally funde
 d research and development center for the National Nuclear Security Admini
 stration (NNSA) of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). LANL's priority ro
 les are serving as a nuclear weapons design agency and a nuclear weapons p
 roduction agency\; addressing nuclear threats\; and performing national se
 curity science\, technology\, and engineering. LANL’s Test Engineering o
 rganization serves the national mission of maintaining a strategic nuclear
  deterrent by providing high-quality\, empirical evidence through the exec
 ution and assessment of weapons system and component testing. Shock and vi
 bration environmental testing provides one key piece of evidence for evalu
 ation and qualification of these systems and components in the service env
 ironments incurred during a lifetime in the stockpile. LANL’s Test Engin
 eering group continuously pursues research and development to improve shoc
 k and vibration testing capabilities\, processes\, and analysis techniques
  to increase the fidelity of service environment recreations in laboratory
  testing settings. This talk will highlight recent R&D advancements in are
 as such as test planning methodologies\, environmental specification devel
 opment\, multi-axis testing strategies\, data analysis tools\, and test as
 sessment methods. These advancements are critical to the organization’s 
 vision to be the preeminent resource for providing experimental evaluation
  in support of the national security mission.\n\nBio\n\nAndy Morello has b
 een a staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) for over 10 ye
 ars. He received his BS (2009) and MS (2011) in Mechanical Engineering fro
 m Michigan Technological University with a focus in experimental structura
 l dynamics. At LANL\, he has supported numerous weapon sustainment and mod
 ernization programs across various roles including Test Engineer\, Team Le
 ader\, and Deputy Group Leader. He is currently the Group Leader for E-14\
 , Test Engineering where he oversees approximately 60 staff members and ex
 perimental operations across six facilities supporting normal\, abnormal a
 nd hostile environments testing for the Weapons Programs. In addition to h
 is tenure at LANL\, Andy spent approximately 15 months at Oshkosh Defense 
 where he led development of survivability solutions for the Joint Light Ta
 ctical Vehicle (JLTV).\n\nInvited by: James DeClerck
