Join Michigan Tech alumni and friends for a day of meaningful community service at the Out of the Darkness Chicagoland Walk in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. On Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT, we invite you to be a part of the Walk Route Encouragement Squad, a crucial role in uplifting walkers as they reach the halfway point of their journey. It's a simple yet profoundly impactful way to support those who are walking for this noble cause. The walk is taking place at Montrose Harbor located at 601 W Montrose Ave, Chicago, IL 60613

To sign up you must complete two steps:

  • RSVP with Michigan Tech Alumni Engagement here
  • Register online at www.chicagowalk.org/register to complete the volunteer waiver. Select "Event Volunteer" for the participant type and "Individual" for the role.  Enter $0 in the fundraising goal to sign up as just a participant in this activity. No fundraising is required to participate in this volunteer activity.

All alumni and their families can participate in volunteering, no age restrictions.  This volunteer day is part of a larger "Make A Difference" month both regionally and on campus. Throughout the month of October, we are coming together as a united community to engage in various projects that embody the spirit of giving back.

Advanced registration is required. The deadline to RSVP is noon on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

If you have any questions about registering you can contact the Alumni Engagement Office at alumni@mtu.edu or at 906-487-2400.
