Melissa Baird, assistant professor of anthropology, will be in the East Reading Room of the Van Pelt and Opie Library from 4-6 pm on Thursday, April 12th. She will be discussing her recently published book, Critical Theory and the Anthropology of Heritage Landscapes. Baird’s book, published by University of Press Florida, explores the sociopolitical climate of heritage landscapes through case studies in Michigan, Alaska, Mongolia, and Australia. Within these environments, she describes the power and control landscapes can have and their effects on local Indigenous people.
