  yourself!\n\nABOUT\n\nMichigan Tech Music\, part of the Michigan Tech Vis
 ual and Performing Arts Department\, offers ten music performance groups: 
 bands\, orchestra\, jazz\, and choral ensembles that expose students\, fac
 ulty\, and the community to the artistic and communicative values of music
  and the power it has to change lives.\n\nSuperior Wind Symphony is an aud
 itioned ensemble of winds and percussion that performs the music of compos
 ers spanning five centuries\, living and not\, from all genders\, ethnicit
 ies\, and genres. \n\nMike Christianson\, the conductor of the Superior Wi
 nd Symphony and Director of Bands at Michigan Tech University\, represents
  the fifth consecutive generation in his family to become a band director.
  Originally from Fargo\, ND\, Mr. Christianson moved to the NYC area\, whe
 re he became an integral part of the Broadway community\, holding a low br
 ass chair or subbing on 44 different Broadway shows. Dr. Christianson is a
 n advocate for new wind music\, and has solo or co-commissioned new works 
 from John Hollenbeck\, Lawton Hall\, Kathryn Salfelder\, Michael Weinstein
 \, Kenneth Amis\, Libby Meyer (2)\, Steven Bryant\, and Katherine Bergman.
