 mission\n\nAbout\n\nSuperior Wind Symphony is an auditioned ensemble of wi
 nds and percussion that performs the music of composers spanning five cent
 uries\, living and not\, from all genders\, ethnicities\, and genres. \n\n
 Joel Neves enjoys a dynamic and versatile career as an opera\, ballet\, an
 d orchestra conductor and educator. A prizewinner in the American Prize in
  Conducting\, Joel is Director of Orchestral Activities at Michigan Tech\,
  where he conducts the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra. Joel served as nationa
 l President of the College Orchestra Directors Association (CODA). During 
 his term of service\, he made a special focus on repertoire for college or
 chestras\, especially contemporary music and music by women composers. Joe
 l received a Doctor of Musical Arts in orchestral\, choral\, and opera con
 ducting from Arizona State University and bachelor's and master's degrees 
 from Brigham Young University.\n\nMichigan Tech Music\, part of the Michig
 an Tech Visual and Performing Arts Department\, offers ten music performan
 ce groups: bands\, orchestra\, jazz\, and choral ensembles that expose stu
 dents\, faculty\, and the community to the artistic and communicative valu
