This superb concert recreates the feeling of a jazz club with you on stage with the musicians. The concert, emceed by Director of Jazz Studies Adam Meckler, will be performed by the small ensembles of Michigan Tech Jazz. The small ensembles consist of groups from four to eight members, and often features music either written or arranged by Tech students. The small groups give the students a chance for a bit more individual responsibility, and a lot more chances to improvise.

About
Michigan Tech Music, part of the Michigan Tech Visual and Performing Arts Department, offers ten music performance groups: bands, orchestra, jazz, and choral ensembles that expose students, faculty, and the community to the artistic and communicative values of music and the power it has to change lives.
Michigan Tech Jazz, directed by Adam Meckler, brings the Keweenaw a wide range of jazz experiences performed by students, local performers, and national names. Its diverse ensembles transform the Rozsa backstage into an intimate jazz club and blow off the roof with the annual Don Keranen Memorial Jazz Festival.
Adam Meckler joined the faculty at Michigan Tech Fall of 2019 after a decade-long career as a freelance trumpeter, composer, and educator based in Minneapolis, MN. While based in MN, he held faculty positions at McNally Smith College of Music, Macalester College, MCTC, and MacPhail Center For Music.
