Ed is a serial tech entrepreneur who had founded, funded, and led several startups as well as having a variety of financial and engineering leadership assignments with Fortune 500 companies.
Currently, he manages a grant program for the State of Michigan, funding DeepTech innovations of the Michigan research institutions; and is a Limited Partner at AVG DeepTech Venture Fund.

Edward Kim - Program Director, MTRAC Innovation Hub for Advanced Computing Technologies
Ed supports Deep Tech translational research teams by providing funding and mentoring to accelerate the lab-to-market commercialization stages. He focuses on providing access to early industry engagements and establishing a fast-track roadmap to follow-on support opportunities.
Prior to his current role, Ed served in senior management roles managing cross-functional initiatives within engineering and financial leadership assignments, covering North America and Europe with companies, such as Ford Motor and a FIAT Industrial company. His experience spans various technology solutions focusing on operational and manufacturing improvements through the introduction of new innovations and digital transformation for automation and industrial markets.
As an entrepreneur and venture catalyst, Ed has been active in startup ecosystem as a founder/CEO, an advisor, and an angel investor dedicated to leading and supporting early-stage scalable impact ventures in automation, cognitive technologies, and advanced manufacturing. Ed has successfully led new market development in North America, S. Korea, China, Italy, and India, acquiring such customers as Samsung, Mercedes, Volkswagen, ITT, and Tata to name a few.
His startup portfolio includes several exits, winners and finalists of several venture competitions, alumni of international venture accelerators, and recipients of multiple NSF Innovation grants as well as private capitals.
