Lakota Historian to Speak on the Lessons of Standing Rock
Nick Estes, Lakota historian and assistant professor of American studies at the University of New Mexico will speak about the lessons of the ten-month Indigenous resistance at Standing Rock against the Dakota Access pipeline in 2016. His talk will take place on (Tuesday) September 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge, Memorial Union Building. This event is sponsored by the Departments of Social Sciences, Humanities, Physics, the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, the Episcopal Church of Northern Michigan, and the King-Chavez-Parks Initiative.
