DESCRIPTION:Dr. Henrike Fleischhack\, post-doctoral fellow at Catholic Univ
ersity of America and NASA Goddard space flight center\, will be presentin
g at this week's physics colloquium. Please join the presentation on Thurs
 day\, September 2nd at 4:00pm via Zoom. \n\nAMEGO-X: \nMeV ɣ-ray Astronom
y \nin the Multi-messenger Era \n\nAbstract: We have seen the dawn of the
era of multi-messenger astronomy. Combining information from electromagnet
ic waves and other cosmic messengers\, such as neutrinos and gravitational
waves\, has opened new windows onto the universe. New astronomical observ
atories are required to complement multi-messenger observations and fully
exploit their science output. In this talk\, Dr. Fleischhack will give an
introduction to multi-messenger astronomy and present gamma-ray bursts (GR
Bs) as prototypical multi-messenger sources. She will explain how they des
ign and optimize the proposed AMEGO-X (All-sky Medium Energy Gamma-ray Obs
ervatory eXplorer) mission as a gamma-ray observatory in the context of mu
lti-messenger astronomy.\n\nBio: Dr. Henrike Fleischhack received her B.Sc
. and M.Sc. at the Georg-August University Göttingen in 2009 and 2012 and
her PhD at Humbold University Berlin in 2017. As a graduate student\, she
worked on the ground-based gamma-ray telescope VERITAS\, and in 2017 join
ed Prof. Huentemeyer's group at Michigan Tech as a postdoc\, working on HA
 WC\, also a ground-based gamma-ray instrument. In 2020\, Dr. Fleischhack j
oined Catholic University of America and NASA Goddard space flight center
as a postdoc\, where she designs and simulates the performance of future s
pace-based gamma-ray missions and analyses data from current NASA missions
