ROZSA PRESENTING SERIES EVENT

Witness the staggering display of physical strength that has captivated over 6 million people across 54 countries. On stage, Yamato: The Drummers of Japan stand with more than 40 Taiko drums. The largest, called “Odaiko”, was produced from a huge tree over 400 years old, is approximately two meters in diameter, and weighs over 1,000 lbs. Their brand new show, "Hito no Chikaroa" The Power of Human Strength, pushes the performers to their limits as they use their entire bodies to produce thunderous music that will leave you exhilarated by the spectacular, high-energy, and explosive performance.

Technology is a tool,
It is humans who wield it.

With the advancement of technology,
An era where technology possesses intelligence.

Will humans become tools used by technology?
What will become of human existence?

In this age where humans are alive,
Beat the Taiko drum.

Made of a huge wooden body and cowhide,
Resonating with the power of the human body.

It is the heartbeat.

The Power of Human Strength.

About the Presenter

Rozsa stage beautifully lit with an audience.

The Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts cultivates a vibrant and connected community through experiences that bring the Keweenaw together. Located on Michigan Technological University's campus in Houghton, Michigan, the 80,000-square-foot arts center's design is inspired by the inclined look of the local copper mine hoists and shaft houses inside and out. Event spaces include the Rozsa Lobby, James and Margaret Black Performance Hall, Rozsa Backstage, Rozsa Art Galleries, and McArdle Theatre. As the largest theater in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the Rozsa dramatically expands the region’s access to large-scale performing arts events including Broadway tours, ballet, cirque, music, and more.
