Credit: 3 SCECHs pending; free
Participants receive: free lunch; complimentary copy of the new K-8 Project Learning Tree Activity Guide with 50 interdisciplinary activities for classroom and outdoor settings provided by MI Dept. of Natural Resources; teaching resources.

Workshop Description

Gain new knowledge and skills to teach about Michigan’s environment using hands-on, interdisciplinary activities that can be taught indoors or outside. This newly designed activity guide includes ‘did you know’ forest facts and an introduction to related careers. Specific Learning Outcomes for the Workshop

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1.  Conduct at least 5 Project Learning Tree (PLT) activities for their students.

2.  Use the K-8 Project Learning Tree activity guide to find activities for your grade/subject area/target audience.

3. Identify five Michigan science, social studies or math standards that can be addressed with PLT activities.

4. Describe the factors contributing to a healthy forest.

5. Describe several related careers.
