Learn how Michigan Tech and local partners are reusing mines for grid-scale energy transition, unleashing the power of hydroelectric energy to power our homes and businesses. Presentations featuring Timothy Scarlett, Roman Sidortsov, Chelsea Schelly, Shardul Tiwari (Social Sciences) and industry partners (Dairyland Power Cooperative and Mine Storage International AB, plus a live panel discussion will take place.



8:30: Coffee

9:00: Welcome

PUSH at MTU: Energy storage, Mines, and the Transition, Michigan and around the world.

Timothy Scarlett, Roman Sidortsov, and Shardul Tiwari. 

10 AM: Presentations from MineStorage International and Dairyland Power Cooperative, with discussion.

11 AM: Energy Transitions in the Upper Great Lakes- Chelsea Shelly and Tim Scarlett

11:30 AM: Panel discussion: Mines and Energy- Timothy Scarlett and guests

Afternoon: participants are encouraged to visit local heritage sites, like the Quincy Mine.
