The keynote speaker was MTU Alum and the first recipient of the Rail Transportation Minor, Otto Frieberg. See below for more details about Otto.
We'd like to thank all of the participants and industry representatives who participated in the event and look forward to next year’s event!
Event Details:
For companies interested in recruitment during the event, we will provide space for brochures and other company materials. They can also double up the recruitment efforts by registering to attend the MTU Fall 2024 CareerFEST that takes place earlier in the day (and throughout September) across the campus.

1 p.m.: Golf outing with Rail Transportation Advisory Board (RTAB) - (covered by company donation to Railroad Night)
Wednesday, September 11
11 a.m.–2 p.m.: Michigan Tech CareerFEST (separate registration required)
4–5 p.m.: Meet the Industry Panel (with Rail Advisory Board Members and Tech Alumni)
5–6 p.m.: Social Hour
6–7:30 p.m.: Railroad Night Dinner and Keynote Address by Otto Freiberg

Chicago Systems and Signals
BS, Civil Engineering with Rail Transportation Minor, Michigan Technological University '16
Otto Freiberg started out as an intern working on track design, during one of those internships he started to pick up Signal work. He graduated in 2016 with a BS in Civil Engineering and was the first to receive a Minor in Rail Transportation from Michigan Tech. He was at CN for a while and moved from Project Engineer (Designer) to Assistant Supervisor to Supervisor, then moved to Fluor Corporation as a Project Engineer on a major project. After a short period, he swapped to Meade Electric as the Signal Project Manager and then founded Chicago Systems & Signals with his partner in 2021.
There is no cost to register for the Railroad Night, but a donation to the Rail Transportation Program is encouraged and appreciated.
