Abstract: Multiple record high water levels have been broken across the Great Lakes this year. This comes after a more than decade long period of low water levels culminating in record lows on Lake Michigan-Huron at the end of 2012 and beginning of 2013. This brownbag talk will place current water levels in the context of a century's worth of water level data, describe events leading to current levels, present forecast products that have evolved from the unique partnership between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Detroit District and NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory, and share the latest water level forecasts.
