ME-EM Graduate Seminar Speaker Series

proudly presents

Vinh Nguyen

Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics
Michigan Technological University

Abstract

Real-world industry experience is critical to supplement the fundamental academic knowledge gained through a graduate student's academic career. Internships are a proven method to provide such vital real-world experiences. However, competition for these positions are always increasing, particularly at the graduate student level, with more than a hundred applicants being submitted for one position. This workshop aims to improve the competitiveness of Michigan Tech engineering graduate students in the internship application process. A case-study resume review activity will be conducted, followed by a presentation of best-practice resumes guidelines. The seminar will conclude with search methods to streamline and diversify the internship search process.
