Faculty, staff, and graduate students are invited to sign up for the Michigan Tech Safe Place Program. Structured as four steps, the training takes approximately four hours from beginning to end and is broken into two sessions.

Both sessions are required for all participants.

Safe Place is about fostering an environment of inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual (LGBTQIA+) individuals on our campus and in the surrounding community through:

  • Educating individuals on LGBTQIA+ issues relating to gender and sexuality and how one can intervene when they witness discrimination.
  • Creating visibility of people who can provide resources to LGBTQIA+ community members.
  • Establishing brave spaces that challenge institutional and interpersonal oppression.

Session 1: March 21, 1-3 p.m., Memorial Union Building, Superior Room (B001)
Session 2: March 23, 1-3 p.m., Memorial Union Building, Superior Room (B001)
