This week, Val Gagnon and Sophia Ford will lead the following discussion.

What is "decolonization" and why does it matter to research?

Decolonization focuses on "changing, rather than imitating, the European or Western concept of research so that it fits into and can be used in conjunction with Indigenous cultures” (Geniusz 2009, 7). This brown bag seminar aims to foster discussion on decolonization and indigenization methodologies in order to enhance equitable academic praxis, research and engagement. The discussion will be followed by an erasure poetry activity, an art form and pedagogical method to illustrate decolonization intersections with policy.
