Title: An Efficient Domain Decomposition Adaptive Mesh Method for the Cahn-Hilliard Phase-Field Model
Abstract: In this talk, we present an efficient domain decomposition (DD) moving mesh method for solving the Cahn-Hilliard (CH) phase-field model in two and three spatial dimensions. The CH phase-field model describes phase separation phenomenon in binary mixtures and has been used in various important phase-field applications such as tumor growth simulation and multiphase fluid flows. The DD method proceeds by splitting the computational domain into overlapping subdomains, and employing the adaptive mesh method to compute the solution of the phase-field model on each subdomain. The implementation of the parallel computations is straightforward, and this helps to reduce the computational cost for both the adaptive mesh generation and solution of the phase-field equation. We demonstrate the performance of the DD adaptive mesh method for the CH phase-field model using several numerical experiments in both two and three spatial dimensions.
