Husky Bites presents Special Guest Zhanping You

Distinguished Professor, Transportation Engineering
Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering
Michigan Technological University

Co-host

Kobe Jin (PhD student)

Topic

Old tires make new roads. Professor Zhanping You takes transportation waste and lets it pave the way to better infrastructure. Recycled tires are one of many pavement materials You develops, designs and deploys. And before the asphalt-tire-gravel mix ever makes it outside. You and his research team do plenty of work indoors, using computer modeling and lab tests to make sure they put viable material out in the elements. During Husky Bites, we’ll also learn what makes Dr. You an exceptional mentor for his graduate and undergraduate students. Joining in will be PhD student Dongzhao Jin (who goes by Kobe in honor of his favorite basketball player). “Dr. You’s humor, lifestyle, rigorous academic attitude, and profound understanding of sustainable pavement all impact me a lot.”

Join us early at 5:45 p.m. for conversation and a weather update.
