Husky Bites presents Special Guest Lindsay Hiltunen
University Archivist
Michigan Technological University
Co-host
Cynthia Hodges '87 '89
Topic
It’s one of Michigan Tech’s most beloved traditions, and it all began in 1922, as the Ice Carnival. From queens to cookouts, snow statues to snowballs, skating reviews to dog sled races, discover the history of Winter Carnival across the decades, through rich images of fun and festivities via the Michigan Tech Archives. Special guest University Archivist Lindsay Hiltunen is a Michigan Tech social sciences alumna, and trustee to the Historical Society of Michigan's Board of Directors. Joining in will be mechanical engineering alumna Cynthia Hodges, who serves as a Wikipedian in Residence (WiR) for Michigan Tech. To celebrate the 100th anniversary, she is organizing a Winter Carnival Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, and alumni and students are welcome to help. This year’s Winter Carnival theme: "Come One, Come All To Our 100th Carnival."
Join us early at 5:45 p.m. for conversation and a weather update.
