"Climate and the Deep Blue Sea"
Keynote Lecture by Dr. Joellen Russell
The ocean is changing rapidly, taking up heat and carbon that would otherwise be warming Michigan and Arizona and the rest of the globe. Come hear how University of Arizona oceanographer, Prof. Joellen Russell, is using robot floats and supercomputers to measure the ocean and predict future climate.
Prof. Joellen Russell is the keynote speaker. Prof. Russell is the Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Chair of Integrative Science and a Professor of Geosciences, Planetary Science, Hydrology & Atmospheric Sciences and Applied Math at the University of Arizona. Prof. Russell has a PhD in Oceanography (Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California), and an AB in Environmental Geoscience (Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Harvard University). Prof. Russell's research focuses on the ocean's role in climate.
