MTU's SAF Forestry Club has historically been and remains one of the primary community outreach clubs of the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences (aka CFRES). Through Interaction with fraternities, sororities, and other local outreach groups, the club participates in numerous community service and fundraising events each year. Through the Society of American Foresters (SAF), our college and other local organizations, the club participates annually in multiple informative field trips, including state and national conferences, local wood production facilities, and active forest harvesting sites. The club also promotes education in the tools of Forestry and Ecology through active sawyer safety training, firewood harvesting, and yearly timbersport conclaves held at the historic Ford Center in Alberta, MI. Our variety of outdoor events, from Big Tree Association hikes to campfire socials to yearly camping trips seeks to attract students form all majors at Michigan Tech, and provide an experience for all students who love the outdoors.
