John MacInnes Student Ice Arena

The John MacInnes Student Ice Arena is home to Michigan Tech's NCAA Division I men's hockey team, three-time national champions. The arena was named for John J. MacInnes, head coach of the hockey Huskies from 1956 to 1983, and considered by many to be among the most successful coaches in the history of college hockey. The 4,000-seat arena has nine locker rooms and 14 suites/skyboxes. The hockey program has produced NHL standouts, including Tony Esposito (1967), Bob Lorimer (1975), Randy McKay (1988), and John Scott (2010). In addition to Huskies hockey, the arena hosts Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology classes, intramural ice hockey, recreational skating, youth and adult hockey and figure skating programs, and private rentals. It also serves as a special events area for events such as Michigan Tech’s commencements, concerts, circuses, and more.
